Who We Are and What We Do
Ringway and Hale Barns WI was founded in 1957 and currently has around 45 members.

Our meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at All Saints Church hall, Hale Road, Hale Barns, WA15 8SP, starting at 7.30 p.m. Limited parking is available outside the hall and at Asda next door. As you will see on other pages of this website, we try to have fun and do as many different things as we can to entertain all of our members.

The 'Meetings ' page on our website shows the variety of speakers that we have enjoyed this year. Meetings finish with tea and coffee, often with tasty homemade cakes. Members can browse the bookstall that supports the allotment project and sign up for events being held in the future. Most months members are invited to submit an entry for the competition.

As well as day trips there is an annual short break organised further afield.

Ringway and Hale Barns WI has a number of groups offering a range of different interests and skills. Members may join as many as they wish.
Visitors and new members are very welcome to come along and details of how to get in touch with us are shown at the bottom of the webpages. The map showing where we meet is below .
We are a friendly bunch so don’t worry, you will be welcomed by all!

So far we have had some very enjoyable meetings this year. The Irish Night seemed to be very successful and hopefully we will do another similar night next year.
One of our former members, Elsie Foster, celebrated her 100th birthday in March and we sent her a card from the WI. She now lives in St. Annes but sent us a thank you via our website (press Ctrl and clock on the link above to go to the website).
At our meeting in April we were entertained by Roger Browne, who is always a hit and our May meeting saw us entertained and informed about Witches by Jean Finney. Jean had also written new words to Jerusalem, which she had submitted to NFWI for consideration of adoption rather than the traditional words.

As you will know, we have started to sell greetings cards on the Sales Table that have been made by members of the ‘Sticky Fingers Club’ – a group of members who meet up at Liz Lewis’ house once a month and design and make cards – some of them personalised and to order. If you would like a personalised card, just let the ladies on the Sales Table know and they will write down what you want on your card and take your payment.

The allotment is now starting to ‘wake up’ and Jenny and Janet have put fertilizer on the beds and planted cabbages, sprouts, courgettes, beans, tomatoes, radishes and potatoes along with the various fruit bushes and strawberries that were already in the beds. Hopefully the weather will be kind and we will have a decent crop this year. If any of you are available to water the beds when the weather is dry, that would be a great help as some of the plants need quite a bit of water to help them grow to a reasonable size.

We look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting.
