​Our events and the activities we run are suggested by our members and our Committee then puts them together and plans the schedule for the coming months. Each activity may then be organised and run by a member or a Committee member as required.
The Committee meetings can be hectic but great fun!
Any member can put themselves forward to join the Committee (or be volunteered!) and all volunteers are welcome.
Our Committee
Liz Lewis is the President of Ringway and Hale Barns WI
Liz joined in 2015 following a move from Oldham to Hale Barns. As a former IT teacher in further education she was also responsible for setting up the website and acts as website editor.
Other interests include volunteering as a room guide at the local National Trust property, Dunham Massey
Ros Bell joined the Committee having been a member since 2012. This year she is now taking on the role of Treasurer having been assistant treasurer and taking on responsibility for the catering. Ros is a very enthusiastic member and is always willing to help out where she can. She has a wonderful, infectious sense of humour that really lifts our Committee meetings and is an excellent cake maker!
Janet Wood has been a member of Ringway and Hale Barns WI since 2014 and took over the post of Secretary in 2017. She is a member of the Book Club, Craft Group and Ladies' Lunch Club. She helps to keep the new allotment tidy and enjoys taking part in the various events, especially with other WIs within the Cheshire Federation and is looking forward very much to the forthcoming 12 months with the WI along with her fellow Committee members.
Carol Redhouse is the Immediate Past President of Ringway and Hale Barns WI having completed her second spell as president in December 2023. Carol has agreed to continue as a committee member and will be responsible for welcoming prospective members to our meetings

Judy Spencer has recently resigned as the Treasurer but continues to be MCS secretary. She has been a member since 1977 and has had two sessions on the Committee in which she has been Group Representative, Magazine Secretary and Assistant Treasurer. She particularly enjoys the varied outings and also is a member of the Craft Group which meets at her home. Judy is a wonderful support to all the committee members.
Maureen McParlin has been a member since 2012 and organises our Theatre and Cinema outings, booking tickets where possible for groups of members to enjoy an evening or afternoon out. Maureen also helps to sell the books to raise funds for the allotment.
Jenny Flisk is our Raffle Organiser. She has been a member since 2018 and helps with the setting up of the room for our monthly meetings and the sale of books for the allotment fund. She is a keen gardener and has helped to keep the allotment tidy and organised. Jenny also takes on responsibility for organising the annual short holiday.
Jane Watts is our Social Events secretary. She arranges day trips and assists in a number of ways, putting forward interesting ideas for our Committee to consider
